Grace Lau




Grace Lau has a background in Communication Design and Advertising, and is now the Academic Coordinator (Design) of City University of Hong Kong.

Graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Design in the late 80s; Grace has worked in the field of advertising since then. And after completing an MBA in York University, Ontario, Grace returned to Hong Kong in the late 90’s, and started her career in marketing for Credit Card banking with International Bank of Asia (IBA). Grace’s work has been awarded for creativity as well as business results by local and international bodies; and her experience covered above, below and across the line with traditional and digital communication media.

In 2006, Grace founded the humanitarian design group – “whocares”, which aims to provide community services through design. Her latest projects include work for Chi Heng Foundation and HK Society for the Protection of Children.

Grace has been elected the Honorary Secretary of HKDA in 2008-2010, and is now serving as the Honorary Secretary of Federation of Hong Kong Design Associations (FHKDA), Panel Member of Design Smart Initiative (DSI), Panel Member of the Advisory Committee of the School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Advisor of the School of Design Alumni Association (SDAA); and elected member of the Hong Kong Public Affairs Forum since 2003. Grace is also acting as Programme Consultant for the “Design to Empower’ and “Discover Design” programmes for Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC).
