Now in its fourth incarnation, the Hong Kong International Poster Triennial
hosted by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum continues to document the new and
exciting developments in poster design, while also encouraging
international cultural exchange and enriching the museum’s collections.
Teaming up again with the Hong Kong Designers Association for this major
event, the museum presents the 2010 Triennial in three parts – a
competition, an exhibition and a seminar – and in line with the
recommendations of the International Council of Graphic Design

new category, Young Generation.

Prominent international designers Dr Kan Tai-keung from Hong Kong, Mr Kenya
Hara from Japan, Mr Mathias Augustyniak from France, Mr Michel de Boer from
the Netherlands and Mr David Tartakover from Israel make up the judging
panel for this year’s Triennial, with selected entries to be presented in
an exhibition that will run from December 2010 to May 2011. The public is
also invited to the seminar that will be held by the museum in mid-April
2010, which will offer a wonderful opportunity to exchange views and ideas

Press Conference on 8 Jul 2009

The Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA) presents the Design Trainee Programme (“the Programme” ) which can help the fresh graduates acquire sufficient training as they enter the work force as well as preparing them to take up more challenging jobs in the future.

Launched by the HKDA with sponsorship from the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Programme provides training opportunities to Hong Kong residents who have obtained full-time bachelor, higher degrees or higher diplomas awarded in 2009 by one of the three Participating Education Providers (PEds), namely, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The City University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Design Institute. Under the Programme, interested graduates will receive training at the Participating Design Agencies (PDAs) for a period of 12 months in the capacity as employees, and be paid wages commensurate with the duties, responsibilities and training contents of the trainee positions. PDAs offering trainee vacancies for the Programme should hold and provide a copy of a valid Business Registration Certificate (BRC) and should be Fellow, Full Member or Corporate Member of the Design Associations, namely the Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA), Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA), Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA) and Chartered Society of Designers Hong Kong (CSDHK).

The Programme will end on 31 August 2010. The training subsidy provided by the Government will be provided up to and including 31 August 2010 or for a period of 12 months from the date of the trainee’s employment, whichever is the earlier.

PDAs interested in offering local trainee vacancies may submit the “Local Design Trainee Vacancy Form” to the HKDA for their processing. Applications for the programme are welcome and no application fee will be charged.

It was indeed a great evening with over 60 members attending. New members get to meet with our Chairman -Winnif ,and other Executive Committee Members like Kelly, Eddie, Grace, James, Joey, Eric, Sherman, Yan Yan, Clement, Henry Chu, as well as our Fellow Member Charles Ng. The sharing of work from new members gave new and old members the chance to know more about what each other are doing, and to possibly path the way for collaboration opportunities. Yet better is the Radio DaDa broadcast with Tommy Li and his special guest Kan Tai Keung. The discussion was especially inspiring to our group of new student members from HKDI, CityU, Caritas Bianchi and CO1. The evening ended with the slide presentation of China Architecture by our Vice Chairman, Raymond Fung. All participants were amazed at the work done in our Motherland, and the insights that we can get from them.
